Mshare

Money Share is an expense management tool that can be used keep track of expenses among several people. Expenses made on behalf of people can be kept track of and recovered when balancing accounts. The utility also reduces the number of exchanges required in order to balance the accounts.

I created this utility primarily to manage finances with my roommates when we stayed together in an apartment. It has also proved useful to manage accounts on trips with friends where we paid for each other and then settled accounts after coming back home.

I was searching for a downloadable tool to share expense.. I currently use expense sharer (http://www.screeperzone.com/expensesharer/xsharer.html) is this tool something similar to the online one ?..

Justin, Mshare offers the same thing except that it is self-hosted and saves data on the server. Thus, multiple people can log in over a period of time and add their expenses and at the end of the month, you can get a report as to who owes who. It is especially useful when you have multiple room mates who are splitting costs. It is also a bit more intuitive than Expense Sharer as far as adding expenses is concerned.
